Stainless Steel Kitchen Cabinets: Which Grade and Finish Should You Ask For?
2026-10-08

Short answer: ask for SUS304 unless you have a reason not to. It is our standard grade. Choose SUS316 for a home near the sea, and SUS201 only where budget matters more than rust resistance. For the surface, ask for our standard raindrop-embossed anti-fingerprint finish.

What do the three stainless steel grades mean?

GradeWhat it isWhere it suits
SUS201The lower-cost grade, with weaker rust resistanceBudget-led projects
SUS304Food-grade 18/8 chromium-nickel steel, with strong rust resistanceMost kitchens. This is our standard
SUS316Contains molybdenum, with very strong corrosion resistanceCoastal homes and upgrade projects

Which grade should I ask for?

Start with where the cabinets will stand. For an ordinary indoor kitchen, SUS304 is the usual answer. If the house is near the sea, ask for SUS316. If the quote has to come down, SUS201 is the lower-cost option, with weaker rust resistance.

Whichever you choose, ask for the grade to be written on your quotation, for example SUS304.

Which surface finish hides fingerprints?

Plain polished stainless steel shows fingerprints easily. Our standard surface is raindrop-embossed with an anti-fingerprint treatment, which resists fingerprints and scratches.

What other finishes can stainless steel doors have?

The raindrop-embossed anti-fingerprint surface is the standard. Four other finishes are available in its place:

  • Sandblasted — a matt, frosted look.
  • Microcrystalline lacquer — a high-gloss face, at the higher end.
  • Soft-touch lacquer — matt and smooth to the hand, also at the higher end.
  • Laminated film — the basic, budget option.

Door shapes are compared in kitchen cabinet door styles.

What does a stainless steel kitchen cost?

Stainless steel sits in the Select tier of our published price ranges, with an indicative rate of USD 140–200+ per linear metre, FOB, not including countertops or appliances. The full table is in our published kitchen cabinet price ranges.

How long does production take?

Production takes 35–45 days from the day the final drawings are approved, not counting sea freight.

What should I send to get a quote?

Your drawings, the grade you want, and the door finish. If you are not sure about the grade, tell us where the house is and we will quote SUS304 as the starting point. See what to send for a quote and how an order runs, step by step.
